Cowan said 2024 made way for one key factor that’s played a role in the decrease in homicides: "This is the first time that a county and a city government has come together to put resources together to combat gun violence in our respective areas.”

"And we're looking forward to this number to continuously trend down as we continue to look for funding to continue this type of work," Cowan said.
