STATEWIDE -- The Maine Legislature made several decisions in 2024 that impact the state's multi-billion dollar outdoor recreation industry. These changes could affect your outdoor activity in 2025.
It also became illegal to sell lead sinkers and painted and unpainted jigs less than 2.5 inches long or weighing less than 1 ounce to protect Maine's loon population and other wildlife from lead poisoning. Anglers are prohibited from using them after September of 2026.
