Deporting 25 million illegal migrants would have to be done in stages, much like eating a Big Mac, one bite at a time, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, said in a recent podcast. Isaac Ritchey | iritchey@mlive.c
NEW YORK â Vice presidential candidate Ohio Sen. JD Vance acknowledges that deporting all the immigrants in the United States illegally cannot be done immediately, but likens the process to eating one of Donald Trumpâs favorite foods, a Big Mac.
Throughout the presidential campaign, the Republican duo has hammered on illegal immigration as a key issue, pledging to deport every undocumented migrant in the United States and throwing out estimates as high as 25 million people. But research by experts shows that number -- more than twice the population of Ohio -- is grossly overinflated.
