But police have noted that the homicide toll in T&T for the year has already crossed 600.

“I can give the public the assurance that, once there is the will—which we have—the Government is working; we are working to try to reduce crime, and you are seeing incremental results. But for every one murder, it’s a murder too much. For every one kidnapping, it’s a kidnapping too much, and I think they will see more results in the short term and better results in the medium to long term,” he said.

He continued, “This fight is not ending. We know what is going on, and we are trying to get a lid on it as fast as we can.”

Scotland raised objections to Opposition MP Dinesh Rambally, who issued a release yesterday criticising the Government on crime.

The minister said that there have been positive crime-fighting results, including in Tobago.
