For the second time this year, police are investigating a homicide at the McDonald’s restaurant in East St. Louis.
In the latest case, a person was found shot multiple times Monday night at the restaurant at 588 N. 24th St., according to a news release from Illinois State Police.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a regional hospital and pronounced deceased.
The East St. Louis Police Department asked state police to investigate the fatal shooting, which occurred at about 7:36 p.m.
“This is an active and ongoing investigation, and no further information is available at this time,” the news release stated.
In May, a 22-year-old Traveon L. Brown of Cahokia Heights was killed in a shooting at the McDonald’s, which is near the intersection of 25th and State streets, authorities have said.
The homicide on Monday night marks the 14th in East St. Louis this year based on reports in the Belleville News-Democrat.
