The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Huntsville that left one person dead.
According to ALEA, the incident occurred on Saturday, November 9, at 10:15 pm at a restaurant in the 5000 Block of University Drive in Huntsville.
ALEA says a verbal altercation ensued between several individuals at the location before shots were fired.
An officer with the Huntsville Police Department was working an off-duty security job at the business.
The officer fired his returned fire with their weapon, but no persons were harmed by their firing.
The suspect, 21-year-old Jeremiah Matkins was charged with murder after killing 23-year-old Ray'shun Markle Bates.

Two other people were transported to a local hospital in the area to be treated for injuries.
