RHINELANDER, Wis. - Several Northwoods communities are receiving funding toward safe and clean drinking water.
Municipalities struggle with having harmful contaminants in water, including lead and PFAS chemicals.
There are more than 167,000 lead service lines in Wisconsin. Agencies hope to replace all of those before 2037, a goal set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Communities including Hurley, Antigo, Rhinelander, Three Lakes and Medford will receive funding toward improving safe drinking water.
