(KMAland) -- A regional agency is offering financial assistance to KMAland homeowners looking to remove lead paint hazards from their homes.
Parks notes that Iowa has a lead poisoning rate that is four times the national average, with 60% of the homes in both rural and urban areas in the state built before 1960. Parks says most projects they've encountered are around $30,000, with some closer to $90,000.
