A Mirror analysis shows that, as of last night, 47 homicides have occurred in Ireland so far in 2024.

That is an increase of seven on last year's figure of 40 – or a hike of 17.5 per cent. Of the 47, 30 died in the State and 17 in the North, which is a percentage split of 64/36.
